COMMERCIAL HUNTS SUSPENDED FOR THE 2003-2004 HUNTING SEASON

I have made the decision to suspend our commercial hunting operation at least through the 2003-2004 hunting season. A through analysis of our deer data and extensive discussions with our guides has revealed a buck herd that is simply far too young for our objectives. We have therefore decided to wait one, or perhaps two, years before resuming our commercial hunting operation. We want the Faith Ranch experience to be second-to-none in both the quality of the mature bucks a hunter sees and the number of mature bucks available for harvest. I believe that we need time to achieve that goal.

Hunts

                  Faith Ranch sells 3 classes of hunts: Bronze, Silver, and Gold. Mother Nature arranges physical traits of animals in a bell-shaped curve. Antler sizes (we use Gross Atypical Boone & Crockett Score) are no different. The average mature Faith Ranch buck scores in the low 130’s (although this average will shift higher or lower depending on spring rainfall) and are represented in the fat, middle portion of the bell curve. These are our Bronze class bucks. Because we have more Bronze Class bucks, we sell more Bronze Hunts. Likewise, the number of Silver Hunts and Gold Hunts we sell tracks the proportion of those bucks in our deer herd. Our conservative and disciplined harvest practices—taking only mature (6 ½ years +) bucks and taking classes of bucks in proportion to their presence in the deer herd—is the reason why Faith Ranch hunters enjoy a quality deer hunting experience year after year.
